Biotechnology Timeline
Week of Aug 24 to Aug 28
The name Biotechnology is fairly new but biotech has been around for a very long time. Looking at a timeline helps to understand the progress and changes that have been made in biotechnology.
You will be creating a timeline to look at the progress that has occurred in biotechnology. Your timeline will be in the form of a Pecha Kucha. I have what a Pecha Kucha is on the videos below, however, in short terms a Pecha Kucha is a storytelling format, where a presenter shows 20 slides for 20 seconds of commentary each. You will tell us about the history of biotechnology with a Pecha Kucha.
What should be in your Pecha Kucha and the time periods for this timeline:
What is biotechnology, 500 B.C, 100 A.D., 1500,1700, 1800, 1900-1920,1930,1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980-85, 1986-89, 1990-95, 1996-99, 2000-05, 2006-2010, 2011-2015,
2016 to present 2020
All these years should be in your Pecha Kucha as well as a definition of Biotechnology. Look up these time periods but do not plagiarize your work.
Make sure that you include the important biotechnology discoveries and a scientist when present.
In a normal Pecha Kucha you would be presenting the presentation, however, I'm going to have you record your presentation. You will submit this presentation into Schoology and on the day of presentations we will have a gallery of the different presentations, where you will have to comment and critic each other (positive critics only) on the Pecha Kucha presentations that you will be assigned too. So bring your popcorn that day.
This will be due on Wednesday Aug 26 by 11:59 pm (2359)
