Cell Organelles
Cell Organelles
You are to use the following 13 cell organelles Create a foldable that you can use to remember these organelles and there function (what they do) include an analogy. An analogy is a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification. Include in your foldable a picture of the organelle.
Cell Membrane
Cytoplasm
Nucleus
Ribosomes
Endoplasmic Reticulum (Rough and Smooth)
Golgi body (apparatus)
Vacuole
Mitochondria
Chloroplast
Cytoskeleton
Lysosomes
Flagella
Cillia

Organelle Speed Dating
CellularMatch.com
Speed dating for lonely organelles
This project is designed to be a creative investigation into the structure and function of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organelles. Using the theme of a blind speed date, you will personify an organelle of your choice and try to “cell it” (I know, bad joke! ) to other lonely organelles. You should have fun and be creative, while remaining true to an accurate understanding of the material at hand.
List of Organelles:
All students will create a dating profile that hits the highlights of your organelle, plus a few “personal details”. The profile will be on a 8 ½ x 11 OR 4 x 6 notecard. These are due Friday 9/13/19 and should be completed prior to coming to class. They should be fun, creative and informative.
I am looking for the following on your dating profile.
You as students will rotate seats to meet and greet each other in character of your organelle. You will have 2-3 minutes to share your info per person before you rotate. You will collect data at each station, and then rate the info, creativity and enthusiasm of each organelle. At the end we will vote and cell-ebrate (last one, I promise!) the matches we have found!

I am looking for the following on your dating profile.
- A cellfie (sorry, couldn’t help it!)
- A theme song (can pick a real song, and change the title to match your theme)
- Pick up line (school appropriately, obviously)
- Trendable hashtag
- Where the organelle can be found (Eukaryotic/prokaryotic/both, plant/animal)
- Function of the organelle to keep the cell alive and healthy
- Bad habit we should know about (what happens if your are defective/missing/etc)

Do the Plant and Animal Cell Quiz on Schoology
When you finish, watch the video below then do the lesson on Schoology on Endosymbiotic Theory. These are both due today.
Do the following lesson. Answer each question in proper complete sentences or paragraph. This lesson is to be done in Schoology. Make sure it is done correctly and do not turn it in incomplete or you will have to re-do it.
In a proper complete sentence, you must re-state the question. Example:
Question: What is a scientific theory?
Answer: A scientific Theory is ....................
This assignement is due today.
Questions
1. What is a Scientific Theory?
2. How is a Scientific Theory different from a Hypothesis?
3. What is the chloroplast and what is it's function?
4. What is the mitochondria and what is it's function?
5. What is a prokearyotic cell?
6. What organisms have prokaryotic cells?
7. What is a eukaryotic cell?
8. What organisms have prokaryotic cells?
9. (This is worth two points)
In a short essay with an opening paragraph, supporting paragraph and closing paragraph, at least 200 words long, explain the endosymbiotic theory and how prokaryotic cells, mitochondria and chloroplast are involved?

Web Site with information on the Cell Cycle and Replication
This site has good information about the cell cycle and cancer. Utilize this information for your project.
Make-Up Assignment For Cancer Project-You can only do this if you have a zero on the project
This assignment is ONLY if you received a zero on the Cancer Project. The highest grade you will receive for this assignment is a 70. So in order to receive a 70 is to score a 100. Anything lower than a 100 will drop the 70. This will be due the Sunday before we return from Thanksgiving. I will not take it after that and the zero will stay. Follow the web quest link, but you will answer the question through Schoology with the document provided. The answers MUST BE in PROPER COMPLETE SENTENCES AND PARAGRAPHS where requested.
